MODULE 2: HOSTESS STATION AND PREPARATION

Hostess Station Setup and Organization
A well-prepared hostess station is essential to ensure smooth and professional interactions with restaurant
guests or clients. This area serves as the central point of coordination and is the guest’s first impression of
the event or restaurant, so it must always be tidy, organized, and fully functional. The station should be
easily accessible and reflect the overall elegance and efficiency of the venue.
To support both the guest experience and the operational flow, several key items must always be
available, including:
- A reservation book or POS/tablet system displaying the day’s reservations
- Pens and notepads to take guest notes or messages
- A printed floor plan for quick table reference. Know where the restrooms are, and if possible, escort the
guest. Always use appropriate body language. (NEVER POINT)
Additionally, the station should have:
- Clean, up-to-date menus to accompany or entertain guests while they wait
- Promotional flyers or cards with information about upcoming events or specials
- Hygiene items such as hand sanitizer and tissues to ensure guest cleanliness and comfort
